Company Vision

To support and positively impact the lives of dedicated professionals to achieve their aspirations in work and life and to maintain their personal well-being.

A Personal Note to Healthcare Providers:

Moving from academics to clinical practice or into leadership can be a tough adjustment. Working in healthcare is more demanding than ever. Patients and staff can be very challenging. There are many mental and emotional hurdles to overcome. I have over 20 years of experience in clinical settings—hospitals, clinics, and OP practices. You can count on me to help you discover and practice the behavior and mindset changes you need to be successful and take care of your well-being.

A Personal Note to all Clients:

Cleo Coaching facilitates a client’s exploration and growth by asking big questions, calling out patterns of behavior and thought that are barriers to change, and offering suggestions for new things to practice. The coaching process provides accountability and positive support. Assessment is helpful to hone in on developmental opportunities. Reading about how to do something new, listening to a podcast, or attending a workshop are not enough to achieve significant lasting behavior change. Cleo Coaching’s five-stage process accelerates self-awareness, emotional intelligence (EQ), development of new skills, confidence, competence, and well-being.

Allison Johnsen

Founder

I personally know a thing or two about being a high-energy, high-achieving person, and I learned the hard way how important it is to not overcommit and to take good care of yourself while you serve your organization and others. I practice what I preach about self-care by going outside to recharge by doing almost anything that ends in “ing”—hiking, sailing, skiing, bicycling, gardening, traveling.

I am the eldest of my parents' four children. If you know anything about birth order and temperament, don't hold it against me! I did the usual thing: went to college, got married (more than once), worked, volunteered, and raised three children.

At 41, after working in the training, business, and professional development field, I was about to start a second career as a psychotherapist. But before releasing newly minted therapists to go forth and help others, my graduate program required us to undergo a battery of psychological and personality assessments. The results were delivered by a panel of psychology professors, who told me my personality, skills, education, and business experience were well-suited for a specialization in organizational psychology and executive coaching. Well then...

I pursued post-grad training for executive coaching with the College of Executive Coaching, Institute of Coaching, and International Coaching Federation. I counseled adults, specializing in anxiety disorder treatment (many high achievers and perfectionists), transitions, and relationship conflict. I no longer practice as a psychotherapist, but the experience was invaluable. I have coached hundreds of professionals from all walks of life, including healthcare, veterinary medicine, advertising, finance, law, banking, engineering, technology, faith-based organizations, marketing, manufacturing, and public relations. I now exclusively coach high-performing professionals, leaders, founders, and healthcare clinicians. Those grad school professors were right. I love this work and I’m good at it.

Sailboat on a lake with a doc. How to Overcome Stress and Emotions at Work.

“The pessimist complains about the wind. The optimist expects it to change. The leader adjusts the sails.”

– John Maxwell

She is well-read and a great listener, who can offer advice in just about any situation regarding work or life in general.
